The story begins with Matthew and Martha both in their late forties and had raised five kids. Martha is pregnant but this last pregnancy wasn’t planned at all. A rumor was that Martha was pregnant with his former employer and that he had forced himself on her. After nine months Martha went into labor, Kemp Penn (Martha’s sibling), Martha, and Matthew prayed for safe delivery and secretly prayed for a newborn that wasn’t biracial. Martha died giving birth that evening. The grief consumed everyone, along with discovering the newborn was indeed biracial. The next morning Matthew became obsessive with anger and rage. While bawling uncontrollably, he had a massive heart attack and died on the spot. The baby was presented to Kemp’s family they named the baby “Jack”.
