Liverpool to Play Crystal Palace in Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy on 15 July

(26 April 2022, 16:32 +07)  English Premier League giant and six-time champions of Europe, Liverpool Football Club will play against Crystal Palace in the inaugural Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy on 15 July 2022.

In addition to the match, Liverpool will also stage an open training session at the National Stadium on Thursday, 14 July.

Liverpool has won 19 League titles and currently sits in second place in the EPL with 79 points, a single point behind Manchester City. The club has also progressed to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and will face Villareal in the semi-finals on 28 April, and will meet Chelsea in the FA Cup Final at Wembley on 14 May. As the club beat Chelsea in the Final of the Carabao Cup in February, Liverpool is still aiming to win a historic quadruple.

While Crystal Palace, known as the Eagles, have played in Asia before, the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022 will mark their first time in Singapore. The club last faced Liverpool FC in Asia five years ago, when they were defeated 2-0 in Hong Kong during a pre-season match in 2017.

“Pre-season is a vital time of year for our players, it’s hugely important preparation for the season ahead and it’s also a perfect opportunity to meet with our fans around the world, said Ben Latty, commercial director, Liverpool FC. “We can’t wait to get back to Singapore once again, we’ve received a tremendous welcome there in the past, and are excited to be taking part in the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022. We eagerly await the sound of our fans filling the National Stadium in Singapore as we take on Crystal Palace FC in July, it’s going to be a great finish to our 2022/23 pre-season.”

Tickets for the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022 start from SG$149 (approximately £85). Tickets priced at SG$39 (around £22) will also be made available for the open training session. Tickets will be available on ticketek.com.sg on 17 May 2022, though fans can register their interest by joining the waitlist from today.

Before they travel to Singapore, Liverpool will play against Manchester United in Bangkok, Thailand on 12 July.

Liverpool's 19 league titles were won in 1900-01, 1905-06, 1921-22, 1922-23, 1946-47, 1963-64, 1965-66, 1972-73, 1975-76, 1976-77, 1978-79, 1979-80, 1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84, 1985-86, 1987-88, 1989-90 and 2019-20. The club's six European Cups were won in 1976-77, 1977-78, 1980-81, 1983-84, 2004-05 and 2018-19.
