NEW DELHI: Shares of Omaxe, Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd., Agro Phos India, IIFL Finance and Bombay Dyeing, hit their fresh 52-week highs during Wednesday's trade on NSE.

Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 162.4 points down at 17038.4 amid selling in frontline bluechip counters.

However, stocks such as Future Consumer, Indiabulls Intgrtd, Asian Granito, Karda Const and Uma Exports Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week lows.

Overall, 10 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 40 closed in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, TCS and Bajaj Auto were among top gainers during the day, while Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Consumer, Adani Ports SEZ and Shree Cements ended in the red.

The BSE Sensex closed 537.22 points down at 56819.39.

Traders piled up positions in Textiles, Telecommunications, Industrial Consumables, General and Building Materials sectors, while selling was witnessed in Tourism & Hospitality, Agro Processing, Media & Entertainment, Airlines and Sugar sectors during the day.
