
Delhi News: A fire broke out Wednesday at an MCD warehouse in New Sheikh Sarai near Malviya Nagar metro station. Delhi Fire Services said they received a call around 4 am and sent 13 fire tenders to the spot. No injuries have been reported so far and the spot was a dumping ground with vehicles, an official said.
Delhi Tuesday reported 1,204 fresh Covid-19 cases and one related fatality, while the positivity rate stood at 4.64 per cent, according to data shared by the health department. The cumulative number of infections in the city now stands at 18,77,091 and the death toll at 26,169, the bulletin stated.

The minimum temperature recorded early on Wednesday was 22.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. A massive fire broke out at Bhalswa landfill in northwest Delhi on Tuesday evening.
Weeks after the registrar of Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) said the “scuffle” between students associated with Left bodies and the ABVP took place after some of them objected to the holding of a ‘havan’ on the occasion of Ram Navami, its vice-chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit said the administration has “no idea what was the trigger” behind the clashes.
Registrar Ravikesh had said the clashes on the JNU campus earlier this month began after students objected to the havan inside one of the hostels on the occasion of Ram Naval. Members of the Left bodies alleged there were attempts to stop non-vegetarian food from being cooked and served in the Kaveri hostel mess and those associated with the right-wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad said some people tried to disrupt a Ram Navami puja in the same hostel. The Delhi High Court Tuesday directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nurses Union to ensure that its members and nursing officers forthwith join the duties. AIIMS had earlier approached the court against the nursing union's strike and argued that it has resulted in the cancellation of various emergency operations and seriously crippled the functioning of the medical institute. The strike began this morning. The court will hear the case tomorrow. The order was passed at 6:35 pm.
A massive fire broke out in a slum cluster in Aggahpur village in Sector 41 of Noida on Tuesday evening. Several fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze.
The Delhi government will develop four world-class city forests in the national capital where people can spend a good time in the lap of nature, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Tuesday.
There are 19 city forests in Delhi, of which four have been selected for further development.
These are Mitraon city forest (98 acres) in west Delhi, Alipur city forest (48 acres) in north Delhi, Garhi Mandu city forest (42 acres) in northeast Delhi, and Jaunapur city forest (98 acres) in south Delhi, Rai said at a press conference. Only eco-friendly developmental work will be undertaken in these city forests.
The forest department will develop meditation huts, amphitheaters of grass and mud, and nurseries in the city forests. Outdoor activities like bird watching and jungle walks will be promoted there. (PTI)

A 30-year-old man died after getting involved in a brawl at a pub in Noida’s Gardens Galleria mall on Monday night.
According to the police, Brajesh was attending an office party at the pub. At around 11 pm, an argument broke out between the customers and the restaurant staff over bill payment. The argument escalated and the restaurant called upon bouncers to intervene. In the physical fight that ensued, Brajesh received fatal injuries on his head. Though he was taken to a nearby hospital, he could not be saved. Read more

The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to settle at 42 degrees Celsius Tuesday, two degrees above the 40.6 degrees Celsius recorded a day earlier, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
