HDFC Bank To Open Over 150 Branches In UP In 2022-23

HDFC Bank will open more than 150 branches in UP in 2022-23. This will provide employment to more than 1 thousand people. The bank currently has 630 branches and over 1,200 ATMs in Uttar Pradesh. The bank started operations in Uttar Pradesh in 1998 with a branch from Lucknow. Since then it has rapidly expanded its network.

HDFC Bank UP branch banking head, Akhilesh Kumar Roy said that its total advance in Uttar Pradesh has crossed Rs 65,000 (advance) crore. The bank's advance in Uttar Pradesh as on 31 December 2021 was Rs 67,756 crore. The total advance includes all the loans given by the bank in the state. This includes loans to retail, corporate, MSME and microfinance customers. The major sectors in particular are MSME, agriculture, priority sector and consumer credit.

He said that the bank is the largest private sector bank of Uttar Pradesh in deposits and advances, with a market share of 8.66 per cent. The bank is the market leader in auto and unsecured loans in the state. Apart from this, the bank's total advances have increased by 40 per cent in the last 12 months from Rs 48,475 crore to Rs 67,756 crore as on December 31, 2021.

Akhilesh Kumar Roy said that the bank is promoting economic activities in Uttar Pradesh. This is evident from the 40 per cent growth in advances in the last 12 months. The bank continued to give loans to support the economy even during covid-19. The bank has deposits of Rs 85,760 crore in Uttar Pradesh. Which together with advances adds up to a total turnover of Rs 153,516 crore. The market share of the bank in the total business is 7 per cent.

He informed that the bank is reaching out to even the most remote parts of the state with 60 per cent coverage in semi-urban and rural areas through a network of 3042 business correspondents and 15,116 business facilitators. HDFC Bank works closely with the state government and has been selected for a number of services including digital solutions for educational bodies.
