Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Friday at 10:34AM

Adani Power(up 4.98%), GE Power India Limited(up 4.27%), NHPC(up 3.47%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(up 3.25%), Alstom T&D India(up 3.08%), NLC India(up 2.77%), SJVN(up 1.87%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 1.72%), K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(up 1.51%) and JSW Energy(up 1.15%) were among the top gainers.

PIGL(down 4.94%), Energy Development Company(down 2.99%), Karma Energy(down 2.00%), Indowind Energy(down 1.90%), Adani Transmissions(down 1.76%), Gujarat Industries Power(down 1.31%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.23%), Jyoti Structures(down 1.23%), Tata Power Company(down 0.95%) and Torrent Power(down 0.76%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 167.45 points down at 17225.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 547.77 points at 57363.91 at around 10:34AM.

Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 2.94%), HCL Technologies(up 1.66%), Bharti Airtel(up 0.41%), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.4%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.32%), Tech Mahindra(up 0.15%) and Wipro(up 0.09%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Hindalco Industries(down 4.21%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.39%), Cipla(down 1.99%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.98%), State Bank of India(down 1.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.89%), Axis Bank(down 1.78%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.68%), Eicher Motors(down 1.67%) and UPL Ltd(down 1.48%) were trading in the red.
