Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.42% in an upbeat market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:09AM(IST)on Thursday in an upbeat market.

Coforge(up 1.26 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 1.13 per cent), L&T Technology(up 1.11 per cent), Mindtree(up 1.0 per cent) and Infosys(up 0.64 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech(down 3.08 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 0.65 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 0.24 per cent) and MPhasis(down 0.07 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.42 per cent at 32310.0 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 111.5 points at 17248.05, while the BSE Sensex was up 387.88 points at 57425.38.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, MRPL, Coal India Ltd and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Roto Pumps, Visa Steel Ltd, Khaitan(India), HB Stockholding and VRL Logistics hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Akash Infra-Proj, Birla Tyres, Felix Industries, P E Analytics Ltd. and SP Refractories Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
