Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 11:20AM

Godrej Consumer Products(up 3.21%), Jyothy Labs(up 2.73%), Bajaj Consumer(up 2.26%), Varun Beverages(up 2.02%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 1.95%), Hindustan Unilever(up 1.93%), Britannia Industries(up 1.89%), DFM Foods(up 1.74%), Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(up 1.73%) and Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 1.35%) were among the top gainers.

Nakoda Group(down 2.54%), Dodla Dairy(down 2.40%), P & G Hygiene(down 1.21%), ADF Foods(down 0.60%), Emami(down 0.36%), Tasty Bite Eatables(down 0.07%) and Prataap Snacks(down 0.04%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 164.5 points up at 17123.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 534.66 points at 56997.81 at around 11:20AM.

Eicher Motors(up 3.06%), Tata Motors(up 2.98%), Maruti Suzuki(up 2.88%), Reliance Industries(up 2.63%), Tata Consultancy(up 2.47%), UltraTech Cement(up 2.38%), Shree Cement(up 2.35%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 2.31%), Grasim Industries(up 2.19%) and Bharti Airtel(up 1.97%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance(down 1.48%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.38%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.34%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 1.19%), ICICI Bank(down 0.75%), Tata Steel(down 0.72%), ITC(down 0.34%), Axis Bank(down 0.34%), State Bank of India(down 0.3%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.24%) were trading in the red.
