Nifty continues to climb a wall of worry as it looks to be in the final leg of its rally before heading for a correction.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Monday.

Shares of Cipla(up 1.11 per cent), Pfizer(up 0.93 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(up 0.7 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 0.65 per cent) and Divis Laboratories(up 0.57 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Abbott India(down 2.61 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 2.45 per cent), Strides Pharma Science(down 2.18 per cent), Biocon(down 2.14 per cent) and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(down 2.06 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.4 per cent down at 13717.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 302.0 points at 17173.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 1172.19 points at 57166.74.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Power, NTPC and Suzlon Energy were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Sunflag Iron, Pearl Polymers, Magadh Sugar Energy, Premier Poly and Bang Overseas hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while OrissaBengalCarrier, Debock Sales & Mktg, Ritco Logistics and McDowell Hold hit their fresh 52-week lows.
