2 ‘minors’ booked in UP for playing ‘pro-Pakistan’ song

On Thursday, a police team informed the family members of both the boys about the matter, after registering an FIR.

TWO YOUNGSTERS – whose families claim that they are minors – have been booked for allegedly playing a “pro-Pakistan” song at a grocery store in Bareilly. Police said the boys, who are cousins, played the song on a cellphone connected with Bluetooth speaker.

On Thursday, a police team visited the residences of the boys after registering an FIR. They informed the family members of both about the matter.

“The families claim they are both minors. We collected their education certificates and will verify these on Monday from their school,” said a police officer. The father of one of the boys runs a grocery shop and the other boy’s residence is near the shop. No arrests have been made yet.

According to the police, the two cousins were at the shop on Wednesday when a local youth visited it and heard a “pro-Pakistan” song being played. “When the youth objected, the two started verbally abusing him,” said the FIR.

The complainant in the case, Himanshu Patel, said the youth informed him about the matter  after which he (Patel) approached the police.

A case was registered the case under IPC sections 153 (Imputations, assertions prejudicial to national-integration), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Criminal intimidation). A relative of one of the boys said the two had quit their studies around four years ago.
