Shades of pastel and yellow dominated the pre-wedding festivities of Bollywood's newest power couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The star-studded guest list saw a number of big names like Kapoor's actress-cousins Kareena and Karisma, director-friends Ayan Mukerji and Karan Johar marking their attendance at the groom-to-be's 'Vastu' residence in Mumbai's Bandra.
A day before their wedding, Bhatt and Kapoor began the celebrations with a puja dedicated to Kapoor's late father, actor Rishi Kapoor. Family members were present at the ceremony held at the ‘Barfi’ actor’s bachelor pad ‘Vastu’. From his mother, Neetu Kapoor, sister Riddhima to aunt Rima Jain, the Kapoor clan was there. The Bhatts, too, marked their attendance as well, including Mahesh Bhatt, Bhatt’s half-sister Pooja and her mom, Soni Razdan.
While bags from designer Sabyasachi had been spotted arriving at Alia Bhatt’s home, media reports claim the bride-to-be will wear both Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra during the wedding. If a report in Bollywood Life is to be believed, Kapoor’s mother, Neetu is flying in chefs from Delhi and Lucknow to prepare the most exquisite kebabs and Lucknow style biryani. While the menu sounds heavy on Indian non-vegetarian delicacies, it also offers ample choice for vegetarians. The media report quoted a source saying that there will be '25 counters only for vegan and vegetarian dishes' as the bride-to-be, Alia Bhatt, is a vegan herself
One of the only stars to break their silence on Kapoor’s and Bhatt’s nuptials is actor Sanjay Dutt. The actor doled out some marital advice for the some-to-be weds couple and said, “If he (Ranbir) is getting married, I am really happy for him. Alia was literally born and brought up in front of me. Marriage is a commitment they are making to each other. And they have to stick by that, hold each other’s hands and move ahead in happiness, peace and glory.” He also added cheekily that he wants the couple to make kids soon.
Bhatt’s closest friends are in-charge of stealing Kapoor’s shoes, and the groom has generously allocated a budget of Rs 1 lakh for the 'joota chori' rasam. The actress is reportedly also going to get a wedding band encrusted with eight diamonds because 8 is an auspicious digit for the couple.
