ETtechNew Delhi: Health technology startup Ultrahuman on Tuesday announced that it has acquired consumer-focused wearables company LazyCo for an undisclosed sum.
LazyCo will work with Ultrahuman's global in-house hardware development team to improve the user experience and boost metabolic health standards worldwide. Ultrahuman, based in Bengaluru, will use the LazyCo team's knowledge to provide consumers with deeper metabolic insights and improved overall health insights.
Founded by Mohit Kumar and Vatsal Singhal, Ultrahuman's wearable device helps people optimise their exercise and nutrition, based on glucose biomarkers. Kumar and Singhal were also the cofounders of hyper-local logistics services provider Runnr, which merged with food delivery app Zomato in 2017.
“We want to make it easy to get healthy. At Ultrahuman, we’re deep believers in passive personalised health, specifically in a health platform that requires very minimal effort from a user’s perspective. This perfectly aligns with the philosophy of LazyCo.” said Kumar, who is also the company’s CEO.
Last August, Ultrahuman raised $17.5 million in a funding round led by Alpha Wave Incubation (AWI), Steadview Capital, and existing backers Nexus Venture Partners, Blume Ventures and Utsav Somani's iSeed fund. It has so far raised $25 million in total.
LazyCo, founded in 2017 by Apoorv Shankar and Yogansh Namdeo, builds hardware products that aim to make daily life easier. One of its notable products is the Aina Ring, an AI-powered smart ring designed to predict and automate daily tasks without the need to check one’s phone.
In 2019, LazyCo concluded a successful Kickstarter campaign and received several design and startup accolades from Alibaba, Qualcomm and others.
