Stock market update: Sugar stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading higher on Monday at 11:15AM

Uttam Sugar Mills(up 6.01%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 5.33%), EID Parry(up 3.95%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 2.91%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 2.62%), AVADHSUGAR(up 2.51%), K.M.Sugar Mills(up 2.46%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 2.42%), Bannari Amman Sugars(up 2.05%) and DCM Shriram Industries(up 1.63%) were among the top gainers.

Sakthi Sugars(down 2.54%), Ugar Sugar Works(down 1.64%) and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 0.14%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 98.25 points down at 17686.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 403.96 points at 59043.22 at around 11:15AM.

Grasim Industries(up 1.59%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.54%), JSW Steel(up 1.1%), ICICI Bank(up 1.05%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.9%), NTPC(up 0.85%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.74%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.66%), Tata Motors(up 0.65%) and State Bank of India(up 0.53%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Infosys(down 2.6%), SBI Life(down 2.26%), HCL Technologies(down 2.18%), Hindustan Unilever(down 1.94%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.73%), Wipro(down 1.56%), Asian Paints(down 1.13%), Power Grid Corporation of India(down 1.12%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.11%) and Reliance Industries(down 1.02%) were trading in the red.
