Members of the All India Students Association (AISA) were detained on Monday by the police for protesting outside the police headquarters, against the scuffle that broke out between two groups in JNU on Sunday. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) has claimed that despite intimating police of the possible violence on Sunday evening itself, there was no action by the authorities, ANI reported. “Even when violence broke out, we were threatened in front of police, but no action (was taken) by them,” the students body was quoted as saying. An FIR was registered by the Delhi Police against unidentified ABVP members on the basis of a complaint by JNUSU and other organisations.
Following the Sunday violence, the President of the Kaveri Hostel has claimed that members of the ABVP did not allow hostel residents to eat non-vegetarian food. The mess secretary has also refuted the student body’s claim that it was decided not to serve non-veg at a General Body Meeting. “…there was no such meeting. We decide the menu for the whole month at the beginning of the month. It’s not decided on a day to day basis. ABVP has politicised the whole issue. Every year non-veg is served. There has never been a problem,” the secretary said.
The JNU administration has urged students to refrain from incidents that can disturb the peace and harmony of the campus.

A Delhi court dismissed the bail plea of JNU student Sharjeel Imam in a northeast Delhi riots UAPA case.
"We have received a complaint from the ABVP and lodged FIR against the unidentified left students," said DCP (southwest) Manoj C.
The JNU registrar has appealed to everyone to "exercise restraint and let the academic environment flourish in JNU without any external distubances".
After Delhi Police detained some AISA members, other members gathered at Tughlak Road Police Station, where the detained protesters were taken.
The JNU Registar, in a statement on Monday, said a few students were objecting to hawan on Ram Navami. However after intervention by the admin, it was "concluded peacefully". He's said some students were "not happy" with this, and a ruckus ensued during dinner, leading to altercation between "both groups". "Mess is run by the student committee and the administration has nothing to do with the menu. The wardens clarified and issued a notice on the spot (when the ruckus was going among students) that there is no bar on serving non-vegetarian food," the registrar has said.

Following the violence on Sunday, the JNU administration has issued an appeal to students stating that there's "zero tolerance" for violence on the campus. They have been "warned to refrain" from incidents that "disturb peace and harmony" of the campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rector and other officials visited the Hostel after the incident, Registrar Ravikesh told The Indian Express.
Navin Kumar, Kaveri Hostel President told The Indian Express: "The menu was predecided but the vendor who came to deliver the chicken was heckled and shooed away. More than half of the hostel residents were supposed to eat non-veg for dinner (Sunday) but they couldn't because ABVP did not allow. The Ram Navami puja was held without any problem. We also ate Prasad after that."

Mess secretary Raghib has refuted this claim. "If there was a GBM, there should be some poster of it, or some minutes of the GBM. There is no evidence because there was no such meeting. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to extend the proposed “Swachhta Scholarship” schemes for the wards of all Group C employees. Earlier, the plan was to provide scholarships to the wards of only safayi karamcharis (sanitation workers), officials said.
The Palika Swachchta Scholarships for the wards of safayi sewaks of NDMC and group C employees was approved in a recently held council meeting.
“Earlier, the scholarship scheme was only for the wards of sanitation workers. However, we received several requests from the other employees to extend the scheme for their wards as well. Rohit Kumar, Unit President of ABVP said, "Non-veg is just a diversionary tactic... We have nothing against non-veg being served. In other hostels, non-veg was served."

Heatwave conditions remain in the forecast for Delhi on Monday, with a maximum temperature of around 41 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature recorded on Sunday at the Safdarjung weather observatory was 41.8 degrees Celsius, six degrees above the normal for this time of the year.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the intensity of heatwaves across the plains of northwest India could reduce from the night of April 12 on account of a western disturbance that is likely to affect parts of the western Himalayan region. Consequently, maximum temperatures are very likely to fall by two to three degrees over many parts of northwest India from April 12, the IMD forecast indicates.
The forecast for Delhi shows that the maximum temperature could drop marginally to 39 degrees on April 13 and 14, before climbing back up to about 41 degrees by April 17. The minimum temperature over the next six days is likely to range from 21 to 23 degrees Celsius. Heatwave conditions remain on the forecast for Tuesday, and clear skies are likely for the rest of the week.
The Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against several unidentified students affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) a day after multiple students were injured after violence broke out on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus.
“We have received a complaint from a group of students who are members of JNUSU, SFI, DSF and AISA on early Monday morning against unknown ABVP students. We have registered an FIR under IPC Sections 323 (causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 509 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 506 (threatening) and 34 at Vasant Kunj (north) police station. Further investigation is on to collect factual and scientific evidence to identify the culprits,” said Manoj C, deputy commissioner of police (South-west).
“Students belonging to ABVP have also informed that they will be also giving their complaint today morning. On receipt of their complaint, necessary appropriate legal action will be taken,” he added. Read more

A senior police officer, who refused to be named, said, ' There was a protest at the campus. A few students got into a fight during the protest and sustained injuries. Our staff was deployed outside the college. We also received a call from the faculty. The police staff is at JNU now. No violence there. We will take action as per complaints'.
