After Rahul Gandhi’s poll allegations, Mayawati lashes out at ‘completely false’ claims

“Congress can't mend its own way and can't set its own house in order but is intruding into our matters,” Mayawati said. “Congress and Rahul Gandhi should think 100 times before commenting on the BSP.”

BSP president Mayawati Sunday rejected Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations that his party had reached out to her for an alliance ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and even offered her the chief minister’s post but she did not respond because she was under pressure from the Centre’s investigating agencies.

Addressing the media in Lucknow, Mayawati said Gandhi’s remark shows the Congress party’s inferiority complex, casteist mindset and hatred for Dalits, other deprived sections, and the Bahujan Samaj Party. “Meri party ke bare me kuch bhi kehne se pehle unhe apna khud ka ghar bhi dekh lena chahiye jo bikhra pada hai. Jiska BJP bhi khub faida utha rahi hai (Before making any remark against my party, Gandhi should first look at his own house that is in disarray. Even the BJP is taking advantage of that),” Mayawati said adding that it will be better if Gandhi directs his concern on his own party rather than others.

On Gandhi’s remark about forming an alliance with her party in the UP polls and offering her the CM post, Mayawati said, “This is completely false and fact-less. There is no truth in this. In fact, every opposition party should review the deadly results of the UP assembly polls. But such baseless remarks should not be made.” She also said that Congress should think 100 times before commenting on the BSP.

Mayawati added that Congress’ own record against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been poor and wavering. She said the Congress party does not appear fighting against the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) even when the ruling party looked eager to end democracy by making a one-party system from panchayat to Parliament.

Targeting Gandhi’s party further, Mayawati said that when the BSP was in power in 2007 in UP, the Congress ruling at the Centre had stopped the central projects of the state government. “Their government had not even provided the security forces when the judgment of the court on Ayodhya was to be pronounced. Congress wanted the situation in the state to get disturbed so that it could impose President’s Rule and run the state from behind the curtains. But their intentions had failed,” she said.

Mayawati said that Congress has been using every disgusting tactic to weaken and finish the BSP. “Aur ab to khisiyani billi khambha noche ki tarah hi iss party ke purva adyaksh apne bikhre hue ghar ko to sambhal nahi pa rahe hain balki hamari party BSP ki karyashaili par zabarsasti ki ungli utha rahe hain. Jisse BSP ke prati inki zabardast baukhlahat aur nafrat aadi bhi najar aati hai (The embarrassed former president of this party (Rahul Gandhi) has not been able to handle his own party but questioning the working of our’s and that shows his hatred and frustration against the BSP),” she added.

She also said that Rahul Gandhi’s father Rajiv Gandhi had called BSP founder Kanshiram an agent of the CIA to defame the party. “Following the footprints, his son Rahul Gandhi too often makes false allegations against the BSP chief of having hands in gloves with the BJP and that she is afraid of the CBI, ED, and Income Tax and that is why she maintains a soft approach towards the BJP. But that is false,” Mayawati said.

Mayawati also said that her party does not believe in doing drama as Rahul Gandhi had done by forcefully hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside Parliament.

The BSP had managed to win one seat out of the total 403 and a mere 12.8 per cent of the vote share in the recently-held UP Assembly polls. The Congress party fared only a little better with two seats in its kitty.
