THE DECOMPOSED body of a 14-year-old girl was found inside a car parked on the premises of the Asaram Bapu Ashram in Gonda district on Friday, police said. The girl had been missing since April 5 and her mother registered a case against some relatives with whom the family has an old land dispute, police said.
Police have detained five persons named in the FIR for questioning. They are relatives of the victim, police said. The car had been parked in the ashram for a long time, the police said. “An autopsy was done but the report said the cause of death could not be ascertained. The viscera has been preserved for examination”, said Superintendent of Police, Gonda, Santosh Kumar Mishra.
He said no ante mortem injury was found on the body and the autopsy report did not confirm sexual assault. Police have decided to seek medical experts’ opinion to decide on further course of action, he added.
DIG, Devipatan range, Upendra Kumar Agarwal said all angles of the case would be probed.
According to the police, the victim’s mother registered a case against her relatives under IPC section 363 (kidnapping or maiming a minor for the purpose of begging) at the local police station.
On Friday morning, two sewadars at the ashram noticed a foul smell emanating from a car parked inside the Asaram Bapu Sewa Kendra. The police were informed and when they contacted the car owner, he claimed that he had parked his vehicle at the spot after locking its doors. Further probe was on, police said.
