Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Thursday at 10:50AM

Adani Transmissions(up 5.80%), Adani Power(up 4.98%), Energy Development Company(up 4.94%), Suzlon Energy(up 4.15%), ADANIGREEN(up 3.75%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 3.21%), NHPC(up 3.04%), CESC(up 2.90%), NTPC(up 2.61%) and Indowind Energy(up 2.57%) were among the top gainers.

Orient Green Power Company(down 3.05%), DPSC(down 2.82%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 2.80%), Reliance Power(down 2.45%), Jyoti Structures(down 2.42%), JSW Energy(down 2.30%), Alstom T&D India(down 2.16%), RTNPOWER(down 1.57%), KKV Agro(down 1.39%) and PTC India(down 1.21%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 111.1 points down at 17696.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 416.49 points at 59193.92 at around 10:50AM.

NTPC(up 2.65%), Cipla(up 1.83%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.41%), Eicher Motors(up 1.39%), Axis Bank(up 1.0%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.91%), Coal India(up 0.67%), Hero MotoCorp(up 0.64%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 0.63%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.59%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Titan Company Ltd(down 2.52%), HDFC(down 2.29%), Grasim Industries(down 1.72%), HDFC Bank(down 1.7%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.69%), Reliance Industries(down 1.52%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.51%), Wipro(down 1.49%), Bajaj Finserv(down 1.31%) and Tata Consultancy(down 1.1%) were trading in the red.
