
Delhi Live News: A Delhi court on Thursday granted relief to Rights activist and former Chair of Amnesty International India Board, Aakar Patel, as it asked the CBI to withdraw the lookout circular (LOC) against him. Patel, who was stopped from leaving the country, had earlier in the day asked a Delhi court to “send a suitable message to the society by asking the CBI investigating officer to reimburse his flight tickets to the USA.”
The Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) will hold its undergraduate admissions for the academic session 2022-23 through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), vice-chancellor Anu Singh Lather said Thursday.

The Delhi government has asked liquor vends, situated within 100 metres in the national capital from Ghaziabad, to observe 'dry days' for three days from Thursday on account of the biennial election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council.
In an order issued on Thursday, the Delhi government excise department has also asked the vends to observe a dry day on April 12 on account of the counting day.
"... On account of the Biennial Election to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, 2022, dry day has been declared from 4:00 PM of 7 April, 2022, to 9 April, 2022 till the end of poll, and 12.04.2022 (full day) on account of counting day," the Delhi government excise department said. (PTI)
Delhi government will provide a subsidy of Rs 5,500 each for first 10,000 buyers of e-cycles in the city, Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot said on Thursday.
The first 1,000 buyers of passenger e-cycles will also be given an additional subsidy of Rs 2,000, he added. The government will also give subsidy on purchase of heavy duty cargo e-cycles and e-carts for commercial uses, he said. The subsidy on cargo e-cycles will be Rs 15,000 each for first 5,000 buyers.
The subsidy was earlier provided to individual buyers of e-carts but now a company or corporate house buying these vehicles will also be provided a subsidy of Rs 30,000, he said. (PTI)
The police and the flying squad raided a fake call centre and arrested 17 employees, while another 149 staff members were let go after issuing a warning, officials said on Thursday.
The ‘call centre' was launched four months ago and was being operated from a three-storeyed building in Udyog Vihar phase-4.
The callers used to dupe US and Canada citizens by introducing themselves as employees of Microsoft, an American multinational technology giant, and giving pop-ups on the victims' screens offering technical support, hardware upgrade and antivirus among etc. They used to charge 500 to 1,000 US dollars (Rs 38,000-Rs 76,000) from the victims, police said. With a sharp hike in CNG prices, auto, cab, and taxi drivers in the city have threatened to go on an "indefinite strike" from April 18 if the government doesn't provide subsidy on the fuel or increase the fare. Associations of auto, cab and taxi drivers will hold protests against the Centre as well as the city government at Jantar Mantar on Friday and at the Delhi Secretariat on April 11 against rise in CNG prices.
Sarvodaya Drivers Welfare Association Ravi Rathor, who claims to have around 4 lakh drivers as members in Delhi-NCR, said that his association will go on an “indefinite strike” if their demands to reduce CNG prices or increase in fare are not fulfilled.
"We are demanding a reduction in CNG rates and if the prices cannot be slashed then the fare should be increased to cope with the price rise. There has been no revision in Ola and Uber fares for the last 7-8 years. In the protest tomorrow we will also take a call on an indefinite strike," Rathor told PTI.

A complaint was recently filed by singer Hirdesh Singh, who goes by the stage name Yo Yo Honey Singh, against a group of four to five unidentified men after the singer was allegedly manhandled at a South Delhi club on March 27.

Ambedkar University Delhi Thursday decided to hold all undergraduate admissions under the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which is mandatory for undergraduate admission at any of the 45 central universities in India.
Schools run by municipal corporations and the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will also focus on the Delhi government’s Mission Buniyaad learning intervention programme in the coming months to tackle the learning losses from two years of school closure due to the pandemic.
With schools moving completely offline from April 1, schools run by the Delhi government have been setting aside regular syllabus for students from class 3 to 9 and have been focusing on foundation reading, writing and numeracy through Mission Buniyaad. This focus will continue through summer vacations when summer camps will be held in schools. Read more
The Delhi government has told the Delhi High Court that the competent authority will expeditiously take a decision on the ‘Notice of No Confidence Motion’ against Delhi Waqf Board chairman Amanatullah Khan, who is also an MLA of the ruling AAP.
The court was also told by the state that representations made by Khan against other members of the board will also be disposed of expeditiously in accordance with the law. Read more
In a bid to provide safety and security to cyclists, the Delhi government is planning to develop dedicated tracks across the city, especially on stretches that are the most used by cyclists across the national capital.
At present, the Public Works Department is developing cycle tracks on about 30 km of road on a pilot basis under the government’s streetscaping project. More tracks will come up on the 540 km of road redeveloping project, officials said. Read more
An 18-year-old girl died and two others sustained injuries after a vehicle hit them in Outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar. Police said the girls were walking to school when the car hit them before ramming into a truck carrying LPG cylinders.
Police said the vehicle driver, Pushpender, fled the spot and left his vehicle behind. He was later arrested. Police also arrested the truck driver, Mukesh. Read more
The Delhi government is in the process of tracking students who had stopped attending school after the pandemic and is working on ways to bring them back into the system, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said.
Speaking with The Indian Express’s national education editor Ritika Chopra at the India Education Summit, Sisodia said that as of now around 1,700 such students have been brought back into the system. Read more
Ghaziabad police have arrested nine persons involved in three separate cases of robbery. The police action comes in the wake of back-to-back lootings in the district.
