Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index advances 0.71% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded positive around 10:55AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market.

Cipla(up 1.93 per cent), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 1.76 per cent), Alembic Pharmaceuticals(up 1.64 per cent), Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 1.46 per cent) and Lupin(up 1.44 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Gland Pharma(down 1.11 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 0.91 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(down 0.62 per cent), Granules India(down 0.3 per cent) and Laurus(down 0.28 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Pharma index was up 0.71 per cent at 13856.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 119.55 points at 17688.1, while the BSE Sensex was down 448.09 points at 59162.32.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 were trading in the green, while 26 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, JP Power, Suzlon Energy and Shree Ren Sug were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of BLS Int. Services, Shree Ren Sug, Uma Exports Ltd., Mohit Inds and TheBykeHospitality hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd., Debock Sales & Mktg, Shakti Pumps, Innovative Tyres & T and Felix Industries hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
