
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.
Shares of Bank of Baroda(up 3.36 per cent), Punjab National Bank(up 1.76 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 1.64 per cent), Federal Bank(up 1.07 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 0.89 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 3.57 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.27 per cent), Axis Bank(down 1.2 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 0.51 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 1.14 per cent down at 37632.8.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 149.75 points at 17807.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 566.09 points at 59610.41.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 30 closed in the red.
Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, Shree Ren Sug and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Lokesh Machines, TheBykeHospitality, Deep Industries, Shaily Engg Pla and Nalwa Sons Invst hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Uravi T and Wedge, Felix Industries, SP Refractories Ltd., Debock Sales & Mktg and Shaily Engg Pla hit their fresh 52-week lows.
