Stock market update: Mining stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 11:25AM

Ashapura Minechem(up 5.04%), Coal India(up 3.22%), KIOCL(up 1.96%), NMDC Ltd(up 1.28%), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(up 1.09%), Pokarna(up 0.42%), Aro Granite Industries(up 0.41%), 20 Microns(up 0.29%) and Madhav Marbles and Granites(up 0.18%) were among the top gainers.

Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 0.61%), Oriental Trimex(down 0.40%) and MOIL(down 0.21%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 127.7 points down at 17829.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 488.13 points at 59688.37 at around 11:25AM.

Coal India(up 3.22%), NTPC(up 2.41%), Tata Steel(up 1.35%), UPL Ltd(up 1.25%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.01%), Bharti Airtel(up 0.95%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.84%), UltraTech Cement(up 0.8%), Grasim Industries(up 0.72%) and Divis Laboratories(up 0.71%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 2.83%), HDFC(down 2.68%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.93%), HCL Technologies(down 1.87%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.8%), Tata Consultancy(down 1.5%), Infosys(down 1.48%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.28%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 0.96%) and Axis Bank(down 0.94%) were trading in the red.
