Stock market update: Fertilisers stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Fertilisers shares closed lower in the Wednesday's session.

Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers(up 9.75%), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers(up 4.82%), Southern Petrochemicals Industries(up 3.18%), National Fertilizer(up 3.16%), Agro Phos(up 2.84%), KRISHANA(up 1.75%), Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals(up 1.29%), Fertilizers & Chemicals Tranvancore(up 1.08%), Madhya Bharat Agro Products(up 1.00%) and Madras Fertlizers(up 0.88%) stood among the top gainers.

G S F C(down 4.01%), Khaitan Chemicals & Fertilizers(down 1.94%), Deepak Fertilizers & Petrochemicals(down 0.94%), Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers(down 0.58%) and Sikko Industries(down 0.53%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 149.75 points down at 17807.65, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 566.09 points at 59610.41.

Coal India(up 3.17%), NTPC(up 2.62%), Tata Steel(up 1.92%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.54%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.53%), UPL Ltd(up 1.48%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.18%), Nestle India(up 1.07%), Larsen & Toubro(up 0.91%) and State Bank of India(up 0.89%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 3.57%), HDFC(down 3.34%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 2.42%), HCL Technologies(down 2.09%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.99%), Infosys(down 1.73%), Shree Cement(down 1.69%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.67%), Tata Consultancy(down 1.56%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.27%) closed in the red.
