Stock market update: FMCG stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 09:59AM

Hatsun Agro Product Ltd(up 1.98%), Bajaj Consumer(up 1.86%), Dodla Dairy(up 1.46%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories(up 0.85%), ADF Foods(up 0.82%), Parag Milk(up 0.79%), Varun Beverages(up 0.77%), Zydus Wellness(up 0.53%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.45%) and DFM Foods(up 0.41%) were among the top gainers.

Marico(down 2.90%), Future Consumer(down 1.94%), Britannia Industries(down 1.11%), Emami(down 1.06%), Godrej Consumer Products(down 0.99%), Dabur India(down 0.92%), Prataap Snacks(down 0.60%), Umang Dairies(down 0.54%), Nakoda Group(down 0.53%) and Mrs Bectors Food Specialities(down 0.50%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 136.45 points down at 17820.95, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 510.73 points at 59665.77 at around 09:59AM.

NTPC(up 2.68%), Coal India(up 2.1%), UPL Ltd(up 1.69%), Tata Steel(up 1.54%), ITC(up 0.89%), Larsen & Toubro(up 0.59%), Bharti Airtel(up 0.59%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.57%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(up 0.55%) and UltraTech Cement(up 0.52%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC Bank(down 2.03%), HDFC(down 1.88%), HCL Technologies(down 1.71%), Bajaj Auto(down 1.67%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.52%), Axis Bank(down 1.47%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.44%), ICICI Bank(down 1.21%), Infosys(down 1.12%) and Tata Consultancy(down 1.11%) were trading in the red.
