Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.4% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:55AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Mindtree(up 1.81 per cent), L&T Technology(up 1.35 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 1.1 per cent), Coforge(up 0.89 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.89 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Wipro(down 0.84 per cent) and Infosys(down 0.32 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.4 per cent at 36588.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 60.05 points at 17993.35, while the BSE Sensex was down 274.5 points at 60337.24.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI Cards, JP Power and Adani Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Krishana Phoschem, Zuari Agro Chem, Hitech Corporation, Genus Paper Boards and Shivalik Bimetal hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while P E Analytics Ltd., GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd., Felix Industries and Swaraj Suiting Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
