Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.9% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index traded negative around 10:50AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Punjab National Bank(up 0.95 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 0.43 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 0.32 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 0.23 per cent) and ICICI Bank(up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Federal Bank(down 2.73 per cent), HDFC Bank(down 2.42 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 0.98 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 0.68 per cent) and Bandhan Bank(down 0.52 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Bank index was down 0.9 per cent at 38286.35 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 61.05 points at 17992.35, while the BSE Sensex was down 282.97 points at 60328.77.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI Cards, JP Power and Adani Power were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Zuari Agro Chem, Krishana Phoschem, Hitech Corporation, Genus Paper Boards and Shivalik Bimetal hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while P E Analytics Ltd., GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd., Felix Industries and Swaraj Suiting Ltd. hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
