Wellness Company, Himalaya has been surrounded by controversies lately and is being called out on Twitter with the trending hashtag #BoycottHimalaya.
The controversy started after various right-winged groups like Hindu Jagruthi Samithi, Srirama Sene, Bajrang Dal and others asked the brand to remove the halal certification from its signboards across all meat selling shops in Karnataka.
Several RW Politicians and RW trolls have been trending #BoycottHimalaya by sharing Himalaya's Halal certificate. Just because Himalaya is owned by a Muslim. Post the hijab controversy that yet again took place in Karnataka, many Hindus have appealed the boycott of halal products since according to them, anyone who purchases these products will support 'economic jihad'.
With the hashtag asking for the brand's boycott, a picture also went viral showing Himalaya's policy that said, "Our products comply with Islamic Law/Shariah and free from any forbidden ingredients under Islamic law. We have set up the Internal Halal Management Team comprising of senior executives (including Muslim) from various disciplines to be responsible for all matters pertaining to Halal certification."
However, the brand has responded regarding allegations against it. The statement said, "The certification does not imply that a product contains animal-derived ingredients."
The statement further said, "Himalaya Wellness Company is exporting its products to over 100 countries. For the acceptability of the products in the importing country, the company and its products will have to comply with the importing countries' laws and regulations. In certain countries, halal certification is mandatory. Hence the halal certification is obtained as per the respective regulations for such countries only."

In further clarification, the company said, "We wish to clarify and confirm that none of the Himalaya products contains meat, as alleged in some of the social media platforms; this is factually incorrect."
On the other hand, many internet users have pointed out that other companies like Adani, Reliance, Tata, Hindustan Unilever, Amul, Dabur and many others have also received halal certification.
