Stock market live updates: The key benchmark indices extended Wednesday's opening gains amid signs of de-escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war as Russia said it will pull back troops from Ukraine's Kyiv and other northern areas. The BSE Sensex rose nearly 600 points to 58,550, and the NSE Nifty50 climbed 150 points to 17,480 levels.
Bajaj twins, Axis Bank, Maruti the top Sensex gainers, up 3-4 per cent. HDFC, ICICI Bank, M&M, Asian Paints,Ultratech Cement were other notable winners.
On the downside, Tata Steel, Tech M, Sun Pharma, NTPC, ITC, ONGC, Hindalco, and JSW Steel were the top laggards on the bourses.
The broader markets were also firmly higher with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gaining up to 1 per cent.
Nifty Realty, Auto, Banks, Financials and Media were the sectoral winners. All indices were in green, barring Nifty Metals, Pharma and Oil & Gas, down up to 2 per cent.
