The police have sent multiple reminders to MCA officials in the last couple of years, but they have not paid the charges, news agency PTI reported.
Maharashtra’s Home Department has decided to withdraw all cases filed under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) during the lockdown against students and other citizens for violation of norms, according to news agency ANI. Once the decision is approved by the Cabinet, the process of withdrawal of cases will start, said Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip W Patil.
Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut on Monday said he has cancelled his meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, with unions representing staffers of government-run power companies as the strike continued despite his request to call it off. Raut had confirmed earlier the invocation of Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) in the state following the nationwide strike by trade unions on March 28-29 against the alleged privatisation of power companies. This restricts the participation of employees from state-run electricity companies to join the protest.

A court here has acquitted a doctor accused of sexually assaulting a male COVID-19 patient in a city hospital in 2020 after he deposed that he did not know who that doctor was as the latter was wearing a PPE kit.
Metropolitan Magistrate of the Mazgaon court Pravin Modi acquitted the 33-year-old doctor on March 22.
The patient told the court that he could not say what was "abnormal" in the activities of the said doctor. The court in its order said that the evidence in the case was "not inspiring confidence" that the accused had done such an act which was likely to spread the infection of coronavirus.
As per the the FIR registered by police after the hospital approached them following the patient's complaint, the 33-year-old doctor had indulged in "inappropriate sexual behaviour" with him when he was admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 symptoms. However, during the course of trial, the patient did not support the prosecution's case in the court. (PTI)

Thane has reported seven new cases of coronavirus, raising the infection count in the Maharashtra district to 7,08,754, an official said on Tuesday.
These new cases were reported on Monday, he said. The death toll remained unchanged at 11,880, he said, adding that the COVID-19 mortality rate in the district is 1.67 per cent.
In neighbouring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 1,63,589, while the death toll stands at 3,407, another official said. (PTI)
