Benchmark NSE Nifty index fell 88.4 points to 17064.6 amid selling in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Future Enterprises, Libas Designs, Precision Metaliks Ltd., Sathavahana Isp and GMR Power and Urban Infra Ltd., touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 15 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 35 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Hindalco, JSW Steel and ITC were among top gainers, while HDFC Life, SBI Life, HDFC, Dr. Reddys and UPL traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 305.81 points down at 57056.39 at 11:25AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Telecommunications, Airlines, Fertilisers, Petrochemicals and Media & Entertainment sectors, while selling was visible in Industrial Consumables, IT Enabled Services, Textiles, Auto Ancillaries and Electric/Electronics sectors.
