Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower on Monday at 11:00AM

Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(up 0.71%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(up 0.66%), Triveni Engineering & Industries(up 0.53%), Sakthi Sugars(up 0.34%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 0.27%) and MAGADHSUGAR(up 0.12%) were among the top gainers.

Simbhaoli Sugars(down 4.85%), Kothari Sugars & Chemicals(down 3.74%), Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 3.50%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.38%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(down 2.34%), Rana Sugars(down 2.17%), Mawana Sugars(down 2.07%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 1.60%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 1.45%) and EID Parry(down 1.32%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 110.15 points down at 17042.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 394.0 points at 56968.2 at around 11:00AM.

Bharti Airtel(up 1.47%), Bajaj Auto(up 1.25%), Hindalco Industries(up 0.57%), ITC(up 0.53%), JSW Steel(up 0.53%), Maruti Suzuki(up 0.5%), Eicher Motors(up 0.4%), Reliance Industries(up 0.35%), Cipla(up 0.34%) and Coal India(up 0.32%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, HDFC(down 2.33%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.9%), UPL Ltd(down 1.77%), Nestle India(down 1.76%), HCL Technologies(down 1.67%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 1.62%), HDFC Bank(down 1.57%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.55%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.46%) and SBI Life(down 1.3%) were trading in the red.
