MARKET LIVE: Sensex falls 400 pts, Nifty below 17050, Banks, IT stocks weak

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Market live: Sensex, Nifty, PVR, Inox, Russia-Ukraine war, oil prices, DLF
Stock updates: The key benchmark indices extended opening losses and were down over half a per cent amid feeble global cues. The fell 300 points to 57,051, and the Nifty50 slipped 94 points to 17,059 levels. 

The top performers included Bharti Airtel, ITC, Maruti, RIL, and Tata Steel which gained up to 0.9 per cent. 

On the other hand, HDFC twins, Kotak Bank, TCS, Dr Reddy's, UPL, M&M, Nestle, Bajaj Finance, and HCL Tech were the biggest laggrads, down up to 2 per cent. 

The broader MidCap and SmallCap indices slipped 0.7 per cent each. 

Sectorally, Bank, Financials, each down 0.8 per cent, were the top losers. Realty and Comsumer Durable indices were also in red. While, Oil & Gas, Pharma, Metals, Media and Auto were all in the positive zone, up between 0.3-2 per cent. 

Among stocks, and Inox Leisure soared 6 per cent and 13 per cent, respectively. The two have inked a deal to merge and will become India’s largest film exhibition company.
