The previous season went on air last year in February. However, the season was cancelled unceremoniously midway owing to the complication induced by the second wave of the Covid infections. The contestants of the Bigg Boss house in Chennai were evicted and later the property was sealed by the local authorities, who also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the showrunners for violating safety guidelines.
When things came under control in August last year, the showrunners picked a winner based on the audience’s voting. And the winner was announced at an in-person event. Contestant Manikuttan became the winner of the last season.
It’s worth noting that the pandemic had also interrupted the proceedings of the second season of Bigg Boss Malayalam.
Mohanlal-hosted Bigg Boss Malayalam 4 is all set for its grand opening from 7pm onwards on Asianet. The show will be streaming on Disney+Hotstar 24/7.
Dr Robin Radhakrishnan, also known as Doctor Machaan, is said to be a part of Bigg Boss Malayalam 4. He is a doctor in GG hospital, Trivandrum and won popularity through his show Chat With Doctor Machaan, which was shown on Kaumudi TV.
Actor Lakshmi Priya is also expected to enter the Bigg Boss Malayalam 4 house as a contestant.

Art director Omung Kumar said he "tried to make a happy house" for Bigg Boss Malayalam season 4 contestants. He said this time, the new house has "a different charm."
"Many people who have seen the house have told me that they feel fresh and happy seeing the house. It has wooden panels, many cute private spaces for the contestants to have some chit-chat, a beautiful garden, stylish floors, artistic ceiling works, cozy dining area, an elegant living area, stylish kitchen, pool, lounges, and whatnot," he told E-Times.

Bigg Boss Malayalam season 4 is set to launch on Sunday. Ahead of the premiere, Bigg Boss house photos have been going viral on the social media platforms. Omung Kumar, art director of the show, opened up on the show. In a conversation with E-Times, Omung Kumar said the "house is entirely different from what the Malayali audience has ever seen."
