
Yogi Adityanath Oath-taking Ceremony Highlights, UP CM Yogi Cabinet 2.0 Highlights: Unanimously elected as the leader of the Uttar Pradesh BJP legislature party in a meeting in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath took oath as the UP chief minister for a second term on Friday. Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were sworn in as his deputies.
Apart from the two deputy CMs, 16 Cabinet ministers also took oath during the swearing-in ceremony held at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Many BJP leaders who were a part of the First Yogi Ministry received a second chance as Cabinet ministers. Though the party has not announced their portfolios, Suresh Kumar Khanna (Finance Minister in first Yogi Ministry), Surya Pratap Shahi (Agriculture), Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan (Animal Husbandry), Dharmpal Singh (Irrigation), Nand Gopal Gupta (Civil Aviation), Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary (Panchayat Raj) and Jitin Prasada (Technical Education) took oath as ministers on Friday.
With dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh attending the swearing-in ceremony, security was ramped up at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. CCTVs and drones were deployed to manage crowds, while 7,000 personnel of the civil police and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) as well as members of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) were manning the venue.

As Yogi Adityanath took oath on Friday, becoming the first UP Chief Minister to start a second consecutive term, he did so with his team of 52 -- two deputy-chief ministers, 16 Cabinet ministers, 14 Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 20 other Ministers of State.
More than 50 per cent of his Council of Ministers are new faces. Among the big names who have been dropped are former deputy CM Dinesh Sharma and former Cabinet ministers Siddharth Nath Singh and Mahendra Singh.
Like in his previous term, Adityanath will have two deputies. While Keshav Prasad Maurya retains his Deputy CM post despite losing his Sirathu Assembly seat in the recent polls, Brajesh Pathak, Law Minister in the last Yogi government and former BSP leader, has been elevated as Deputy CM, replacing former deputy CM Dinesh Sharma as the Brahmin face in the Cabinet. The new UP government has five women ministers, including three dalit and two Brahmin. Former Uttrakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya is the lone woman cabinet minister.

Former IPS officer Asim Kumar Arun has been made minister of state (Independent charge). Asim won the assembly election from Kannauj sadar seat. In January, Asim Kumar surprised everyone by announcing his voluntary retirement. His announcement came an hour after the model code of conduct came into effect in January. Asim Kumar, later, joined the BJP and contested the election.
Asim’s father Sriram Arun was Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh.
Asim Kumar Arun was Kanpur police commissioner when he announced his retirement. Considered to be upright officer, he was earlier posted as the head of Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). He had also undergone a commando training course for the National Security Guard (NSG).
Only Muslim minister to have taken oath today is 32-year-old Mohammad Danish Azad Ansari, a native of Ballia. Danish has replaced Mohsin Raza, who was minister in the previous government of Yogi Adityanath. Danish, who is the state general secretary of BJP’s Minority Front, has been made minister of state in the second term of Yogi Adityanath. He was earlier holding the post of member of state Urdu Language Committee. Danish completed his post graduation in 2009 and Masters of Total Quality Management from Lucknow University in 2012. He also completed Masters of Public Administration from Open University in 2020. Danish was also active in student politics and joined Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 2011.
The second tenure of the Yogi Adityanath government took off from the “Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium” in Lucknow on Friday as the chief minister and his ministerial colleagues were sworn in by Governor Anandiben Patel.

Apna Dal sources confirm Ashish Patel, husband of Union Minister Anupriya Patel, would be part of Yogi Cabinet this time. An engineer by profession, Ashish had left his job and entered into active politics and was made a member of legislative council with the help of BJP in 2018.
