Mumbai News Live: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth Rs 11.35 crore of Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik in a Rs 5,600 crore fraud at the National Spot Exchange Limited (NSEL), officials said. The attached properties include two flats and a land parcel in Thane, Maharashtra, they added.

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian’s family, in a letter, urged President Ram Nath Kovind to take action against Union Minister Narayan Rane and his son Nitesh Rane, alleging that their daughter’s death is being politicised, news agency ANI reported.

Maharashtra on Thursday reported 139 new coronavirus cases and three fresh fatalities linked to the disease, while 255 more patients were discharged following recovery, bringing the active tally below 1,000. Mumbai recorded 54 new cases, but no fresh deaths linked to the infection.

In the last two months, Prathama, the first Olive Ridley Sea turtle to be satellite tagged from the coast of Maharashtra, reached 250 kilometre north of Velas Beach in Ratnagiri district. Two children killed in road accident in Mumbai

Two children were killed and their parents injured when a speeding vehicle hit their auto-rickshaw in suburban Mumbai, police said on Friday.

The accident occurred on Thursday evening at Borivali (East) when one Pravendra Kumar Gupta (35) was driving his auto-rickshaw in which his wife and two children were travelling, an official said.

As the auto-rickshaw was approaching a flyover, a speeding heavy vehicle crashed into the three-wheeler, killing Gupta's son and daughter, he said. The couple was injured in the accident.

The heavy vehicle's driver has been arrested, the official said, adding an FIR has been registered at the Dahisar police station in connection with the accident. (PTI)

After recording below normal day temperatures this week, the maximum temperature in Mumbai recorded a steep rise on Wednesday. The maximum temperature recorded by the India Meteorological Department’s Santacruz observatory was 38.2 degrees Celsius, which was 5.4 degrees above normal. In 24 hours, the day temperature increased by five degrees in the city. As the city had experienced heat wave conditions last week, the dip in day temperatures over the past few days had brought some respite.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old college dropout has been arrested for posing as an Ayurveda doctor and "practicing" in a health clinic in suburban Malad, a police official said. According to the official, the arrest was made recently as a part of a joint operation by the Dindoshi Police and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s P/North Ward. The accused, identified as Sukesh Gupta, had been "practicing" in the Shivshahi area of Malad for the past four years.
