Stock market live updates: The key benchmark indices started Friday's trade on a quiet note tracking mixed global cues. The Sensex rose 200 points and the Nifty was above 17,250 at open. The indices, however, turned flat soon after opening, erasing all gains.

The Sensex was down around 100-odd points at 57,480 levels, while the Nifty languished below 17,200-level. 

Among the Sensex 30 shares, Reliance Industries, RIL, Kotak Bank and Bharti Airtel were the notable gainers; Whereas, Tiatn slipped over 3 per cent. Maruti, PowerGrid, ITC and Nestle were the other prominent losers.

The broader markets, however, were outperforming the benchmark indices. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were up 0.2 per cent each.

Sectorally, the BSE Consumer Durables slipped 1.8 per cent, and the FMCG was down 0.8 per cent. On the positive side, the BSE Telecom was up nearly a per cent.
 
The broader markets were outperforming the frontline indices with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices up to 0.3 per cent higher.
