Stock market update: Nifty IT index advances 0.17% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded positive around 10:14AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech(up 0.88 per cent), MPhasis(up 0.75 per cent), Tech Mahindra(up 0.49 per cent), Tata Consultancy(up 0.47 per cent) and Mindtree(up 0.02 per cent) were among the top gainers.

L&T Technology(down 0.69 per cent), Coforge(down 0.38 per cent), HCL Technologies(down 0.24 per cent), Wipro(down 0.22 per cent) and Infosys(down 0.05 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was up 0.17 per cent at 35436.95 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 82.45 points at 17035.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 268.14 points at 57024.35.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 18 were trading in the green, while 32 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, ONGC, SAIL and Vedanta were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Orbit Exports, Vaishali Pharma, Madras Fert, NIIT and Jindal Drilling hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Gateway Distriparks Ltd., Future Enterprises, Future Retail, FutureLifestyleFash and Future Consumer hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
