1: The Union Health Ministry’s Sunday bulletin shows that India officially registered 1,761 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours.
2: This figure is the lowest number of daily Covid cases that India has seen in the last two years.
3: The government data says that the number of active cases has further declined to 26,240. In comparison with Saturday, there was a reduction of 1,562 active cases today.
4: If one looks at the national recovery rate, it stands at impressive 98.74 per cent.
5: Meanwhile, the real scale of destruction of human lives during the second wave of coronavirus cases is being reported in new findings. Meghalaya government has recently submitted a reported to the National Health rights Commission stating that 877 newly-born babies and 61 mothers died during the pandemic as women refused hospitalisation as they were afraid of contracting infection.

A PTI report says that the next edition of the Auto Expo has been scheduled for January, 2023. The last time the Auto Expo was organised was in the year 2020. A Reuters report says that Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam has admitted that the traders community is ‘losing patience’ over the stringent rules. Hong Kong has some of the toughest Covid curbs in the world to battle the surge.
8: The Robert Koch Institute’s March 20 update shows that Germany registered 131,792 new Covid-19 infections in last 24 hours. While the Covid deaths is low, the fresh surge of new cases remains unabated.
9. The WHO has clearly stated that this talk or idea that the pandemic is over is just wrong. In its latest briefing, COVID-19 Technical Lead Maria Van Kerkhove said that this notion of Omicron being the last variant or natural immunity etc must be cleared.
10. The top WHO official has also said that the new surge in daily cases will not stop unless everyone starts working in Covid-appropriate way. If one looks at the global Covid tally, there has been a significant jump of 8 per cent in daily cases in comparison with the last week.
