New Delhi: Top cryptocurrencies were trading mixed in Friday's trade, with Avalanche climbing over 5 per cent but others such as Solana, Terra, Polkadot and Shibu Inu falling up to 3 per cent each in the last 24 hours.

Bitcoin, the largest crypto by market value, was trading 1.34 per cent lower at $40,556. It was still up 5.6 per cent in the last seven days. Ethereum edged 0.44 per cent higher at $,2783. The second largest cryptocurrency by market value has risen 9.4 per cent in the last one week.

BNB added 1.19 per cent, XRP fell 0.23 per cent while Terra declined 2.99 per cent.

Avalanche jumped 4.86 per cent and was the top performing crypto currency among the top 10 in terms of m-cap. Solara fell 2.52 per cent, Cardano declined 1.4 per cent and Polkadot tanked 3.34 per cent.

Dogecoin fell 1.58 per cent to $0.1155.

The global cryptocurrency market cap fell to $1.82 trillion mark, down 0.35 per cent in the last 24 hours. Total cryptocurrency trading volume declined 22.36 per cent to $77.15 billion, as per Coinmarketcap.

The proposed 30 per cent taxation on income from cryptocurrencies and other virtual assets will come into effect from April 1, Central Board of Direct Taxes chairman JB Mohapatra told news agency ANI on Thursday.

In addition, the 1 per cent tax deducted at source (TDS) on transactions in such asset classes will be applicable from July 1, Mohapatra said.

Consumers risk losing all their money invested in cryptoassets and could fall prey to scams, the European Union's securities, banking and insurance watchdogs said in a joint statement on Thursday.

"Consumers face the very real possibility of losing all their invested money if they buy these assets," the three EU authorities said in a statement.
