A total of 25,46,285 were women workers with a share of 72.29 per cent of the total handloom workers, said the Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Jardosh cited Handloom Census 2019-20 and said a total of 35,22,512 handloom workers were employed across the country.
In addition, there are around 16,87,534 women handicraft artisans registered with the office of development commissioner (Handicrafts), according to the minister.
