The NSE Nifty index closed 312.35 points up at 16975.35, while BSE Sensex ended up 1039.8 points at 56816.65.
On the other hand, Cipla Ltd.(down 1.15 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.27 per cent), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 0.14 per cent), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 0.10 per cent) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 0.35 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
