Shares of Strides Pharma Science(up 4.67 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.53 per cent), Laurus(up 1.78 per cent), Natco Pharma(up 1.67 per cent) and Lupin(up 1.58 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Pfizer(down 1.26 per cent), Cipla(down 1.15 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 0.72 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.27 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.42 per cent up at 13374.5.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 312.35 points at 16975.35, while the BSE Sensex stood up 1039.8 points at 56816.65.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 46 ended in the green, while 4 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, PNB, Zomato Ltd. and PayTM were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of Gujarat Ambuja, AVT Nat Prod, InfoBeans Tech, Andhra Paper and NDTV hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Atal Realtech, Ganga Forging, Vaidya Sane Ayurved Laboratories Ltd., Akash Infra-Proj and FutureLifestyleFash hit their fresh 52-week lows.
