Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, who is basking in the glory of the success of 'The Kashmir Files', took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for praising his recent film.
Kher said that people should see the film for truth of genocide of Kashmiri Hindus.
"Letting everyone know the truth is for the good of the nation," his caption read.
Kher also shared a video of PM Modi's speech recorded during the Bharatiya Janata Party Parliamentary meeting on Tuesday.
The Vivek Agnihotri-directorial revolves around the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the year 1990.
In the two-minute-long video, PM Modi said that bringing out the truth in the right manner is in favour of the nation.
Expressing his support for the film, he said that 'The Kashmir Files' was being discredited rather than being critiqued on its art or facts.
"People who carry the flag of freedom of expression are restless. Instead of reviewing facts, the campaign is being run to discredit it..." he said.
Underlining that history has to be presented in the right context before the society, Modi said just as books, poetry and literature play a role in this, in the same way even films can do the same.
"My issue is not about a film, but about bringing the truth in its correct form before the country.
"There can be many aspects of truth and different views, those who think it is not correct can make their own film, but they are shocked that the truth that they tried to suppress is now coming out with the backing of facts and efforts," the PM said.
The short video was later shared on the micro-blogging site by the several BJP leaders.
The movie has been declared tax free in Himachal Pradesh
Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said that it will be exempted from the entertainment tax.
"I urge everyone to watch this film," his tweet read.
The movie has already earned the tax-free status in several states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Tripura, Goa, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.
Released last week on Friday (March 11), 'The Kashmir Files' has minted over Rs 41 crore in just four days. Written by Agnihotri and produced by Zee Studios, it also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumaar.
