
Mumbai News Live: SPECIAL court in Dindoshi granted anticipatory bail to Narayan Rane and Nitesh Rane in a case registered by Malwani police station Mumbai in relation to spreading misinformation and defamatory statements in connection with Disha Salian’s death. The bail order was granted with a condition of ₹15000 surety and not to tamper with witnesses and investigations.
“This proves that the Mumbai police has registered a case against Narayan Rane and Nitesh Rane at the behest of their political bosses on the basis of frivolous charges,” says Satish Maneshinde.
Maharashtra government announced Covid-19 vaccination for children from age group 12-14 years to begin from Wednesday in the state. Corbevax vaccine will be administered in this group as per the Centre.
Mumbai crime branch has declared a deputy commissioner of police as wanted amidst extortion case based on the complaint of angadiyas (traditional couriers) according to officials on Tuesday. An inspector, an assistant inspector and one sub inspector attached to LT Marg police station in south Mumbai have been arrested in the case so far, he added.

A SPECIAL court in Dindoshi has allowed the anticipatory bail applications of union minister Narayan Rane and his son, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane, in connection with a case filed against them for allegedly making defamatory statements and spreading misinformation about the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager, Disha Salian.
The two had moved court following an FIR filed at Malwani police station under Sections 211 (false charge of offence made with intent to injure), 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code along with section 67 of the Information Technology (I-T) Act.
The FIR was filed following a complaint by Salian's mother, who had said that baseless allegations were made about her daughter's death by the Ranes which was causing them harassment and bringing disrepute to their deceased daughter. The complaint said that Salian had died by suicide on June 9, 2020, as she had suffered financial losses at work. Read more
After successfully tracking five olive ridley turtles for a month now, the state-run Mangrove Foundation confirmed that the researchers have lost contact with one of the turtles christened Laxmi. They suspect that either the transmitter is malfunctioning or the turtle is dead.
Under the turtle monitoring project, Laxmi was fitted with the satellite transmitter at Guhagar beach in Ratnagiri district on February 16. However, since March 2, no signals have been received from Laxmi.
Updating about the project, the Mangrove foundation earlier this week tweeted, “Since 2nd March 2022, no signals/locations have been received from the female turtle ‘Laxmi’ which was tagged at Guhagar on 16th February 2022. It is suspected that this may be due to the malfunctioning of the transmitter or the turtle may have died.” Read more
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) are planning to extend the existing Eastern Freeway till south Mumbai and further connect it to the west coast of the city.
Tuesday, Guardian Minister Aaditya Thackeray held a meeting with MMRDA chief SVR Shrinivas and municipal commissioner I S Chahal on exploring the possibility of extending the freeway.
Currently, the eastern freeway starts from the Mankhurd-Ghatkopar Link Road and ends at P D Mello Road near Carnac Bunder in South Mumbai. The road has eased out issues of south Mumbai’s connectivity towards the eastern part of the city. Read more

The Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) police recently recovered Rs 50,000 lost by a man after a fraudster tricked him into revealing his bank details, which were used to transfer the amount from his bank account to another account. However, the man contacted the MBVV police, who managed to freeze the account and reversed the transaction, recovering all the stolen amount.
The MBVV police have a special WhatsApp number—9004880135—for reporting cybercrimes for the residents of the Thane and Palghar districts which fall under their jurisdiction.
The cyber police of MBVV last week received a complaint from a man who had lost Rs 50,000 to cybercrime. The fraudster impersonated a telecom service provider personnel and asked for the man’s bank details to update the Know Your Customer (KYC) form. The imposter said his mobile number will be blocked if the details are not updated. Read more
