Stock market update: Power stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Monday at 11:26AM

Energy Development Company(up 4.79%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.76%), RTNPOWER(up 4.27%), K.P.I. Global Infrastructure(up 2.90%), DPSC(up 1.64%), Voltamp Transformers(up 0.62%), Gujarat Industries Power(up 0.38%), CESC(up 0.32%), Torrent Power(up 0.29%) and Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(up 0.29%) were among the top gainers.

Indowind Energy(down 4.87%), PIGL(down 4.87%), Karma Energy(down 3.17%), NLC India(down 2.12%), GE Power India Limited(down 1.88%), Adani Transmissions(down 1.64%), NHPC(down 1.58%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.38%), ADANIGREEN(down 1.03%) and Suzlon Energy(down 1.01%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 109.1 points up at 16739.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 472.87 points at 56023.17 at around 11:26AM.

Infosys(up 2.73%), HDFC Bank(up 2.73%), ICICI Bank(up 1.96%), State Bank of India(up 1.51%), Wipro(up 1.4%), HCL Technologies(up 1.39%), Axis Bank(up 1.35%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.03%), Tata Consultancy(up 0.91%) and UPL Ltd(up 0.8%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Indian Oil Corporation(down 2.63%), Hindustan Unilever(down 2.11%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 2.1%), Tata Motors(down 1.75%), Bajaj Finance(down 1.45%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.43%), Britannia Industries(down 1.34%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.29%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 1.25%) and Shree Cement(down 1.18%) were trading in the red.
