Tesla CEO Elon Musk and musician Grimes secretly welcomed their second baby together in December via surrogacy. The second child, a girl, has been named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, but the parents will mostly be calling her Y.
Grimes explained the reason behind the unique name, saying that there are multiple references to space and technology and Exa refers to supercomputing, Sideræl, a more "elven" spelling of sidereal-- which means involving distant stars -- and Dark, for "the unknown."
The 33-year-old singer revealed the baby news in an interview to Vanity Fair which was published on Thursday, by accident.
Grimes broke the news after the reporter heard a baby crying upstairs during the interview at the singer's house in Texas. When asked, Grimes first winced and tried to avoid the subject but then confirmed that she was a mother again, this time to a baby girl.
Musk and Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, decided to use a surrogate for their second child together after the 33-year-old faced complications during her first pregnancy.
The SpaceX head and Grimes welcomed their first child, a baby boy in May 2022, while later that fall the two announced their semi-separation. The two named their first born X Æ A-12, or more simply, X, for which they were trolled on the Internet.
"I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we're very fluid," Grimes told Vanity Fair.
While Grimes and Musk live in separate houses, they remain "best friends'. The two started dating in 2018.
The singer further revealed that the two plan on having more kids together, at least "three or four".
