Domestic benchmark index NSE Nifty gained 387.25 points to 16732.6, while the BSE Sensex traded 1340.14 points up at 55987.47.
On the other hand, Swan Energy, Mirza Intnl, BSE, Ugar Sugar Work and SEL Manufact stocks hit their fresh 52-week highs today.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv and HUL were among the top gainers on the NSE.
Coal India Ltd, Hindalco, ONGC, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech were among the top losers.
