Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 354.25 points to 16699.6 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Akash Infra-Proj, Felix Industries, Megastar Foods, Vivo Collaboration Solutions Ltd. and Shriram Pistons, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 46 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 4 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, SBI and Maruti Suzuki were among top gainers, while Coal India Ltd, Hindalco, ONGC, Dr. Reddys and Cipla traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 1248.4 points up at 55895.73 at 10:04AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Telecommunications, Learning & Education, Airlines, Textiles and Banks sectors, while selling was visible in Industrial Consumables, IT Enabled Services, Construction, Irrigation & Allied Services and Electric/Electronics sectors.
