UP election result 2022 LIVE updates: The is set to keep control of Uttar Pradesh with a big majority for a historic second term, according to the count on Thursday of a state assembly vote that could offer clues to the national mood before a 2024 general election.
The coalition was leading in about 250 of the 403 seats, news channels reported citing counting data, while the Election Commission said the party was ahead in enough seats to hold onto power. The has got 44.6 per cent of the vote, data at 2 pm showed: a significant 5 per cent improvement over the 2017 elections.

Akhilesh Yadav's gained seats over the last election but fell far short of the party's expectations. The and the Congress were leading in 2 and 1 seats.

Counting of votes for the 403-seat UP election 2022 is still underway.

All the major opposition parties - the Mayawati-led (BSP), Congress and Akhilesh Yadav-headed SP- have targetted the ruling BJP on a number of issues. They primarily include price rise, unemployment, law and order, year-long farmers' protest and the manner in which the Yogi government handled the deadly second Covid-19 wave in the state.
