SEBI Changed Investment Rules For Stock Market Investors

SEBI changed investment rules. One can now invest up to Rs 5 lakh through UPI. Small investors will also benefit from the new changes

Market regulator SEBI has increased the investment limit in debt securities through UPI, giving relief to small investors. Under this, retail investors will now be able to invest up to Rs 5 lakh in public issue of debt securities through UPI which was till now Rs 2 lakh.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a circular for this. According to this circular, the new provision will be applicable to the public issue of debt securities opened on or after May 1, 2022. As per the existing SEBI norms, investors can invest only up to Rs 2 lakh in the issue of debt securities through the UPI system. After the change, this limit will increase to Rs 5 lakhs.

Actually, due to the risk factor in the stock market, there is a fear among small investors. SEBI has increased the investment limit of UPI after discussing with the stakeholders. The instant payment system UPI has been developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Actually, with this, a person can transfer money to another person's account immediately. This will help small level investors to invest money in the stock market.
