NEW DELHI: Shares of Mawana Sugars, Kennametal India, Future Enterprises (DVR), Dwarikesh Sugar and Bombay Metrics Supply Chain Ltd., hit their fresh 52-week highs during Tuesday's trade on NSE.

Benchmark NSE Nifty closed 150.3 points up at 16013.45 amid buying in frontline bluechip counters.

However, stocks such as Wockhardt, JK Cement, Shri Ram Switchgears, Akash Infra-Proj and McNally Bharat, touched their fresh 52-week lows.

Overall, 37 shares ended in the green in Nifty50 index, while 12 closed in the red.

In the Nifty 50 index, Indian Oil Corp., Sun Pharma, Tata Consumer, TCS and Cipla were among top gainers during the day, while Hindalco, ONGC, Tata Steel, Britannia and JSW Steel ended in the red.

The BSE Sensex closed 581.34 points up at 53424.09.

Traders piled up positions in Telecommunications, Industrial Equipment, Retail, Real Estate and Textiles sectors, while selling was witnessed in Industrial Consumables, IT Enabled Services, Construction, Irrigation & Allied Services and Electric/Electronics sectors during the day.
